- Mobile phones should be always used considerately and respectfully.

- The clinical environment must remain safe and free from unnecessary disruption.
4. Acceptable Use
Patients and visitors may:
- Use mobile phones in waiting areas for calls, messaging, or browsing, provided it does not disturb others.
- Keep phones on silent or vibrate where possible.
- Use phones for health-related purposes, such as appointment details or medical apps.
5. Unacceptable Use
The following is not permitted:
- Recording (audio, video, or photographs) within the surgery without explicit consent from staff and any individuals involved.
- Using phones during consultations, unless agreed with the clinician.
- Loud conversations, speakerphone use, or playing media that may disturb others.
- Use of phones in clinical areas where it may interfere with care or equipment.
6. Confidentiality and Data Protection
- Patients and visitors must not record or share any information that could identify other patients or staff.
- Any breach of confidentiality may result in action being taken in line with practice policies.
7. Staff Discretion
- Staff may ask patients or visitors to stop using their phone if it is causing disruption or raising confidentiality concerns.
- In certain situations, mobile phone use may be restricted entirely.
8. Emergencies
- Patients may use their phones in urgent situations but should inform a member of staff if assistance is needed.
9. Breaches of Policy
Failure to comply with this policy may result in:
- A request to stop using the device
- Being asked to leave the premises if behaviour continues
- Further action in line with the practice’s zero tolerance policy
