Common Mental Health Conditions

Mental health problems are common and can affect anyone. Some of the most common conditions include:

  • Anxiety disorders

  • Depression

  • Stress-related conditions

  • Eating disorders

  • Bipolar disorder

  • Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders

These conditions can range from mild to severe and may be short-term or long-lasting.

Signs You May Need Support

You might benefit from support if you:

  • Feel low, anxious, or overwhelmed most of the time

  • Have difficulty sleeping or concentrating

  • Lose interest in things you usually enjoy

  • Feel withdrawn or isolated

  • Experience changes in appetite or mood

  • Have thoughts of harming yourself or feeling hopeless

Everyone’s experience is different, and symptoms can vary.

Getting Help And Support

Help is available, and you do not have to face mental health problems alone.

You can:

  • Speak to your GP, who can discuss treatment options and refer you to services

  • Access NHS talking therapies for anxiety and depression

  • Contact NHS 111 for urgent mental health advice

  • Reach out to trusted friends, family, or carers

Looking After Your Mental Wellbeing
