111 online is a fast and convenient alternative to the 111 phone service and provides an option for people who want to access 111 digitally. 

Your needs will be assessed and you will be given advice about whether you need:

  • Treat yourself at home
  • Go to a Primary Care Centre

If you need face to face medical attention you may be asked to attend a Primary Care Centre.

Somerset Acute Community Eyecare Scheme (ACES)

ACES is a free service available to all patients registered with a Somerset GP. The service provides patients experiencing recently occurring medical eye conditions with appropriate treatment closer to home. The service is provided by local optometrists with the specialist knowledge and skills to carry out this work at a locally approved opticians.

Somerset Dental Helpline

From Friday 29 April 2022 people living in Somerset, who are not registered with a dental practice, should call NHS 111 if they need urgent treatment or advice.

Following an initial call with a call handler, the person may be put through to a dental nurse who will advise on next steps. This could range from general self-care advice to an urgent appointment being booked within 48 hours.  More information here.

HANDi App - phone app to help management of childhood illness

HANDi has been developed by the paediatric team at Musgrove Park Hospital to provide expert support to parents/carers and medical professionals looking after children with the most common childhood illnesses:

 

- Diarrhoea (gastroenteritis)

- Chesty child (wheeze and asthma)

- Chesty baby (bronchiolitis)

- High temperature

- Abdominal pain

- Common newborn problems
